Mission: The IJMEL aims to advance knowledge and understanding in the field of music entrepreneurship and leadership by publishing high-quality research that offers valuable insights to our broad readership. We actively encourage articles that bridge theory with practice and provide a platform for intercultural perspectives and intercontinental collaborations. Our journal is committed to supporting the growth of our discipline, and we are particularly excited to publish debut articles from emerging scholars.

 

Topics of Interest: We invite submissions that address a wide range of topics related to music entrepreneurship and leadership, including but not limited to:

  1. Entrepreneurship theory as applied to music
  2. Music entrepreneurship education
  3. Music management and administration
  4. Music and creative industries
  5. Public policy and music
  6. Music in community and economic development
  7. Nonprofit leadership in the music sector
  8. Social entrepreneurship in or using music
  9. Evaluation and assessment of music initiatives
  10. Public practice in music

In addition to the above topics, we also encourage submissions that explore the following areas of interest:

  1. Conceptual, pedagogical, philosophical, and historical foundations of music entrepreneurship and leadership
  2. Connections between music production, education, policy, and business disciplines
  3. Emerging areas such as the digital creative economy, migrational entrepreneurship, and digital entrepreneurship
  4. Policy issues and the importance of music entrepreneurship education
  5. Leadership in various contexts, including non-profit organizations, social impact initiatives, higher education institutions, intrapreneurship, entrepreneurship within secular and religious organizations, and different worldviews of entrepreneurship

Submission Guidelines:

  1. All submissions must present original research that contributes to the field of music entrepreneurship and leadership.
  2. Manuscripts should be written in English, Spanish preferentially or any other GIMUR languages and adhere to the scholarly writing style guidelines, such as APA 2023 (American Psychological Association), Chicago Style, Harvard Style, or any other recognized academic style.
  3. Articles should range between 3,000 and 6,000 words, inclusive of references, tables, and figures.
  4. We welcome self-reflective studies from music entrepreneurs as well as empirical research from scholars.
  5. Submissions should clearly bridge theory with practice, offering practical insights and implications.
  6. Manuscripts must be submitted electronically via the IJMEL online submission system.
  7. Each submission will undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure academic excellence.

  • Notification of Acceptance: June 15, 2023
  • Final Manuscript Due: June 30, 2023
  • Publication: July 1, 2023
